Description

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is projected to be a $150B business by 2020. Like previous technological advances, adoption of IIoT into currently operating facilities is fraught with risk. In this talk we will discuss how to successfully and smoothly integrate IIoT technologies into your facility with minimal disruption to daily operations. The keys to IIoT implementation success is as follows: Understanding the value of visibility in your facility Removing existing clutter and unneeded machinery and inventory from the workspace prior to engaging in an IIoT discussion Correctly identifying the “next two to three measurements” that would advance plant visibility Engaging the workforce in the identification and implementation of these new metrics Clearly developing a shared path to success with IIoT vendors and suppliers Dr. Carrier will discuss a simple methodology for the IIoT transition based on well-established lean and quality manufacturing topics. Mr. Wadensten will then discuss his current experience implementing IIoT at his facility with a large IIoT provider.
